Argentina Energy Profile 2025: Electricity Mix

Argentina's electricity generation in 2025 remained heavily reliant on fossil fuels, which supplied 58.4% of total generation. Natural gas dominated the mix at 53.7%, continuing to play a central role in powering homes, businesses and industry across the country.

Renewables accounted for 34.5% of electricity generation, led by hydropower at 17.1% and wind at 12.2%. Wind energy has expanded significantly in recent years, while solar and bioenergy also contributed to Argentina's growing renewable electricity sector.

Nuclear energy generated 7.1% of the country's electricity, providing a reliable source of low-carbon power alongside renewable energy and helping diversify Argentina's electricity mix.
