Australia's electricity mix in 2025 remained dominated by fossil fuels, which supplied 61.4% of total generation. Coal was the country's largest electricity source at 42.7%, while natural gas contributed a further 16.4%.
Renewables provided 38.6% of electricity generation, led by solar power at 19.6% and wind at 13.7%. Together, these two sources accounted for around a third of Australia's electricity, reflecting the growing role of renewable energy in the power system.
