Bangladesh Energy Profile 2024: Electricity Mix
🔥 Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels dominated Bangladesh’s electricity mix, making up 98% of generation. Natural gas was the largest single source at 61.5%, followed by coal at 20.2% and other fossil fuels at 16.3%.
🌍 Renewables
Renewables supplied just 2% of the total, with solar providing 1.3% and hydropower 0.8%. The country’s flat terrain limits hydro potential, while solar has begun to expand gradually.
