Brazil Energy Profile 2024: Electricity Mix
🔥 Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels made up 10.5% of Brazil’s electricity mix in 2024. Natural gas supplied 6.5%, coal provided 2.2%, and other fossil sources, such as oil, added 1.8%.
🌍 Renewables
Renewables dominated with 87.4% of generation. Hydropower led with 55.4%, followed by wind at 14.6% and solar at 9.6%. Bioenergy contributed 7.8%, mainly from sugarcane bagasse and biomass.
⚛️ Nuclear
Nuclear energy contributed 2.1% of Brazil’s electricity, coming from two reactors located at Angra on the Atlantic coast.
