Pakistan Energy Profile 2024: Electricity Mix
🔥 Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels supplied 53.5% of Pakistan’s electricity in 2024. Natural gas was the top source at 24.9%, followed by coal at 13.9% and other fossil sources such as oil at 14.7%.
🌍 Renewables
Renewables made up 33.1% of electricity generation. Hydropower led with 18.8%, while solar power added 10.3% amid ongoing investments. Wind contributed 2.9%, and bioenergy accounted for 1.1%.
⚛️ Nuclear
Nuclear energy contributed 13.4% to the electricity mix, reflecting recent growth in domestic and Chinese-built reactors supporting baseload demand.
