Turkey Energy Profile 2024: Electricity Mix

🔥 Fossil Fuels
Turkey generated 54.4% of its electricity from fossil fuels. Coal led with 35.5%, followed by natural gas at 18.6%. Other fossil sources made up less than 1%, used mostly for peaking or backup capacity.

🌍 Renewables
Renewables supplied 45.6% of generation. Hydropower led at 21.9%, with strong contributions from wind at 10.7% and solar at 7.5%. Bioenergy contributed 2.5%, and other renewables added 3%, reflecting Turkey’s growing investment in clean energy.
