Electricity Generation

The United States' electricity mix relies heavily on traditional fossil fuels. Natural gas-fired power plants contribute the largest share at 43.1%. Coal also hold a substantial portion at 16.2%.

Renewable energy sources are growing, with wind at 10.2%, hydroelectric at 5.7%, solar at 3.9%, biomass at 1.1%, and geothermal at 0.4%. Nuclear power accounts for 18.6%.
