Biomass

Biomass refers to the organic material originating from plants and animals. Biomass is used as a renewable energy source in different ways, like wood pellets, leftover crops such as straw and corn stalks, and waste materials such as animal manure.

Energy from biomass can be harnessed through combustion. The released heat can be used to generate electricity by driving turbines or used directly for heating purposes.

Biomass energy offers clean, renewable power sourced from readily available organic materials. It offers a cost-effective alternative to fossil fuels and can contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions.

Biomass is less efficient than fossil fuels and still releases carbon emissions. If the balance is wrong biomass sources can deplete faster than they replenish, posing environmental risks.
